About Byron Gottfried

Byron Gottfried is Professor Emeritus at the Swanson School of Engineering, Pittsburg. He is the author of eleven books, including several in the Schaum’s Outline Series on programming.

Professor Gottfried obtained his PhD. in Chemical Engineering from the Case Western-Reserve University. His professional interests include Simulation Modeling, Computer Graphics, Programming Languages and Energy Utilization.

Programming With C - Byron Gottfried

The third edition of Programming with C (adapted by Jitender Kumar Chabra - ostensibly to meet the requirements of the Indian Student) seems to be a pared down version of the second edition of the same book by Byron Gottfried; this third edition actually has more pages than the second but it may be both because the paper size is slightly smaller in the third edition and because it contains more examples while paring down the 'theory' part. Best book for JNTU

For the beginners of programming it is good book. A Student can learn C programs easily.

Best Book for C

I graduated my Engineering degree in 1992. At that time I bought this book, but still refer the book several times. Great book to keep by every C programmer. Book has lot of examples to refer. I do not know about the latest edition because I still maintained my old book. But it must be far better than old version.

Well I used it as a reference book when I was learning C. The book is quite nice. All the topics have been explained in an organized way. Lots of programming examples are also given.
