    The fabric is around five to nine yards long and it’s draped around the body in different ways. Our country is rich in cultural diversity and each state of the country has a unique style of draping sarees. These can be draped in plenty ways depending on the occasion.     What’s In A Mirror Work Saree?

    Saree depicts typical Indian tradition and culture. Although every state has its own variety, there are different varieties and patterns for each kind of saree. A saree reflects the symbol of a deity, motherhood, modesty, and humility. Speaking of reflections, mirror work sarees are one of the most beautiful sarees a woman can wear. You should have at least one mirror work saree in your wardrobe.

    The state of Gujarat is famous for its beautiful manual artwork and handloom sarees. Kutch is famous for the delicate yet heavily detailed embroidery work. In the region of Saurashtra, the town of Kutch brings you vivid colors and the famous mirror work sarees and attires for Garba, a traditional Indian folk dance from Gujarat. These mirrors are called ‘abhla’ and they’re an integral part of the embroidery work. That’s because they exemplify the beauty of the piece of cloth they’re woven into. They are placed in geometric patterns accompanied by small beads.  

    These mirrors are placed in strategic positions to form a pattern on the saree. They can also be placed randomly, which looks like a mesmerizing pattern from afar, on the visible side of the saree. 

    These mirrors can be used as borders if they’re placed alongside the edge. The mirrors that are used on these sarees are real mirrors, specifically cut into different shapes and sizes. The most commonly seen mirror work saree uses the roundels of a plain mirror with fancy embroidery or bead placement by the side.

    Fabric Mirror Work Saree

    Chiffon, Jacquard, Georgette, and Lace are materials that are used to craft these divine sarees. They are soft, lightweight and can be handled with ease. They are low maintenance fabrics, so it is easy to wash them as well! 

    Plain And Fine Sarees

    These sarees are generally monochromatic and have a lot of mirror work done on them with some embroidery work as well. The bigger roundels are used in this saree, and placed towards the border to enhance the visual appeal.

    Multi-Colored Mirror Work Saree

    This is the authentic style of Gujarat. The saree is composed of more than one color and has mirror work scattered throughout the cloth. The mirrors used for this saree are generally small and are accompanied by tiny beads and embroidery work. Therefore, these sarees look a lot more grand when compared to other sarees of similar styles.
