    good read

The writing is competent and the language is pretty functional and devoid of lengthy, pretentious prose. The characters are three dimensional and having shades of grey.Kudos to the writer for not portraying the protagonist as an epitome of all virtues.Likewise, the characterization of the killer is also very well done.Infact for me, the book worked more as a brilliant work of character study than a fast paced thriller. There are enough twists and turns happening at regular intervals which keeps t...

AN EPITOME OF THRILLER AND CHILLER !!!!

A gripping thriller about a serial killer that will thrill you and keep you hooked till the last page. A vividly written spine chilling tale that talks not only about the murders of the Mundi-Cut serial killer of Mumbai but also the reasons that made him a serial killer.
The title is intriguing and strikes the chord with the superb idea of a red blooded eyed man holding a knife upright upon a plain background. It has the power to compel any reader to pick this book at that instant and “soon t...

    A Born movie material

A cold blooded, savage murderer with a woeful past and a righteous police officer who treads upon the heels of the culprit- The plot is quite familiar through books as well as movies. Yet author succeeded in maintaining the novelty of the topic through a different narrative style. Initially the narration seems like a switch between third person and first person but later while drawn into the grotesque plot, the reader discerns that the story is in fact the first person narration of the police...

    Dangerous but not very thrilling!

I finished Raakshas last night and I am still dwelling on the plot. A bit haunting but a wonderful read.
Raakshas by Piyush Jha - A fast paced, spine chilling story of a serial killer and the police officer who’s in pursuit.
Piyush Jha, an acclaimed Bollywood director, is famous for his best selling crime fiction novels. And it’s one genre that always entices me. Do I have to give more reasons to pick this book?

First impression - the cover page is too good and the title, catchy. Raakshas...

    A different kind of book...Recommended!

The cover, title and blurb are an interesting and intriguing first glance package that are sure to attract the attention of the readers.

The plot is different and well researched which shows right from the start. The author managed to capture my attention right from the first chapter and soon had me feeling a multitude of emotions right from feeling sympathetic to the misfortune of a child to feeling horrified at the cruelty prevailing in the world around us, seemingly hidden behind the norm...

Will surely keep you glued till the end!

Raakshas : India’s No. 1 Serial Killer is the latest book of Piyush Jha which as the title suggests is about mysterious serial killings happening in Mumbai. The author is an acclaimed film director, ad filmmaker & author of bestselling crime fiction novels. Since it was my first book by Piyush Jha I was actually quite eager to read his work since I have heard good things about his previous novels.

The story is fast paced which is totally necessary in this kind of book & is about the anonymou...

Slow, Steady and an Avid Page Turner

Raakshas - Though it is not as gripping and fast paced as I would have liked it to be, it is, definitely, worth your time. The story picks up pace as it enters the plot, and Piyush Jha manages to balance out on the emotion factor as well, which proves to be an added plus point. As the plot thickens, Raakshas manages to keep the reader engrossed and eager to find out what happens next. An above average thriller - I must admit, I didn't put the book down till I finished reading.

One of it's kind in India, serial killing at it's best

There’s a lot of research in the West on serial killers but not in India, because we lack the acceptance that mental derangement can create these kinds of characters. Serial killers don’t look weird; they prefer a persona of perfectly normal person. Once you’re through with this book, you’ll realize that there might be one around you, on the streets.

‘Raakshas’ gives an appropriate introduction to the background of our protagonist and the circumstances that lead him towards insanity.

    Highly...

Raakshas - A very captivating read!

‘Raakshas – India’s No. 1 Serial Killer’ is a story of striving to be the best. But best in what way? Is it alright for something you think to be perfectly alright to resonate well with people? Will your opinion be received in the same way as you think of it? I was stunned as I read ‘Raakshas’ because it is the kind of book that makes you reevaluate your life choices and your thinking. Should you sympathize with the killer? Can you empathize with the killer? Every nuance in the book is intrig...

A Must Read if you got bored with reading Romantic novel

I received the book by the author's promotional event and found the book quiet refreshing. There are very few Indian writers who tends to dwell in this subject.
Well, there was nothing new about the story and it felt like the writer tried to gimmick western writers who has earlier penned stories on serial killers. But, all in all, the book is a good read.
