  • Description

Rafa: My Story is the autobiography of international tennis player Rafael Nadal, in which he recounts his early years and speaks of what gave him the strength to reach his exalted position in the world of tennis.

    Summary Of The Book

Rafa: My Story speaks of a determined tennis player, full of grit, and how he managed to overcome all odds and reach the pinnacle of tennis, to be acclaimed as one of the greatest players ever. Rafael Nadal is candid and forthcoming about his life and how he got to where he is.

Although it is essentially an autobiography, Rafa: My Story has parts of first-person accounts (primarily the unforgettable Wimbledon final in 2008 against Federer) interspersed with a third person account of Nadal’s resolve, his will to win and his iron stamina and endurance.

Throughout the book, Nadal speaks of how his uncle Toni, a failed tennis player, has always been his coach and has bullied him to no end, criticizing him even when he won, and always reminding him that he has a long way to go. Nadal recounts how he would always be made to pick up more balls than the others and he would always be pushed hard by his uncle.

This ruthlessness, however, seems to have paid off, seeing as Nadal is counted amongst the greatest players of the game. He has been up against stiff competition, and he has come out on top. One of the most engaging features of Rafa: My Story is the way the 2008 Wimbledon final against Federer is described, right from the previous night onwards. Nadal describes how he felt and what it meant to him with great lucidity.

Rafa: My Story is an interesting glimpse into the mind of a very private and highly successful tennis player.

    Rafa- A Federer Fan

I have been a Federer fan since the 2001 Wimbledon when he beat Sampras. Till 2005, my adulation for this 'mos graceful' of all tennis players was total and complete. Then I saw Federer playing a fellow in green sleeveless and white 'pirate' pants in the Sony Ericsson tournament. Stretched to five sets, Fed won the match to my relief but lead me to make a note to follow this 'Rafa guy' more closely. As it turned out, I did not have to follow him closely, since he was pretty much everywhere af...

Hit Rafa 100 times, HE will hit you back for 101 times ! Vamos!

I am neither a tennis player nor a tennis fan, I am a fan of The Rafa, as a human being.

The book deals with the early life of Rafa, the MAKING of Rafa, i would love to call him The Man of Steel ! You will understand this when you read the book.

The book explains in depth, what you need to be a true, warrior like sportsman, always enduring yourself even if there is slightest margin of your winning. You play a sport only when you give 100% of your sporting nature.

It also tells us that n...

Excellent book , great to read - should have been hardbound

First of all the book was delivered in excellent condition.

The great thing about biographies of great achieving and loved personalities is that they immediately give you encouragement and steps to do something big and meaningful in your own life.

Reading this book gives you a great understanding of difference between super talented and Champions[Nadal,Federer].
Their mental strength. How Nadal reached those mental strengths made him the champion and not his physical power.

    Beyond Amazing!

Firstly, great delivery from Flipkart. This was one of the first books I bought from this site and I can assure you there will be many more to come. Very good packaging, and a very good price for such an amazing book.

I am a tennis player myself, and am a bigger fan of Federer than Nadal. I have to say, this book truly is amazing, even if you are not a tennis player. Well, if you are, this is THE BOOK for you! It is based on the 2008 Wimbledon Final, the biggest match of his life and undoubt...

    Nada,one of the Best

Rafa's life is not to be reviewed but to learn the kind of endurance that you need to show if you need to achieve your dreams in your life. He has been a sign of humility that is rarely seen nowadays. I am inspired by the way how people from Manacor lead their life. The way in which their love for family and native island being described is truly awesome. Setting up priorities, never giving up,not letting success get to your head, valuing people than business, respect for profession and being wi...

Rafa: A great sportsman, but an even better person

We all know that Rafael Nadal has been one of the best tennis players worls has seen. In this book, he along with a very good sports writer-John Carlin, talks about his childhood and journey from Malorca to Center court of Wimbledon. After reading this book, one will surely feel that he is a great human being as well. With there are not many people around whose example can be given to young kids, Rafael Nadal is surely a person one can look up to.
