This book reminds us that human greed, by way of concretising the fragile ecosystem of the mountains, is a sure sign of oncoming disaster. The book reflects on the harrowing experiences that the author and a small group of friends endured during the catastrophic floods in the Himalayas in June 2013 when they were on a pilgrimage to the Char Dham in Uttarakhand. Besides recounting their ordeal, the author also discusses his concerns on global warming and climate change and contemplates on the wisdom and invaluable contributions made by a select few visionaries towards preserving the environment.
