Having helped to securely imprison Prioress Lizaveta's soul, Grimm Afelnor enjoys a long leave of absence from Guild activities with his beloved Drex. However, behind the scenes, an old enemy returns, thirsty for the Questor's blood. Bereft after falling out with Drex, Grimm has to battle a crazy Questor even more powerful than him. Battered, broken and exhausted, he must now face his nemesis-who vows to kill him in the most agonizing manner possible.
