  • Description
“Roger Trewinion” by Joseph Hocking is a historical novel set in 18th-century Cornwall, England. The story follows Roger Trewinion, who comes from an old Cornish family with a history shrouded in mystery and dark secrets. The novel delves into themes of inheritance, as Roger becomes the heir to the Trewinion estate, a place haunted by past wrongdoings and supernatural elements. As Roger uncovers the truth about his family's history, he is drawn into a tale of revenge, betrayal, and romance. The Cornish coast, with its rugged beauty and hidden dangers, serves as a fitting backdrop for this atmospheric and suspenseful story. Throughout the novel, the tension between the past and the present is palpable, as Roger grapples with the legacy of his ancestors and the choices that will determine his own future. The supernatural forces at play serve as a constant reminder that the past is never truly gone and that it continues to shape the present. This blend of historical fiction with gothic elements creates a chilling atmosphere, where the boundaries between the living and the dead are blurred and the supernatural occurrences are tied to an ancient curse.
