Inisghtful, powerful, numbing...
Having read Amandeep Sandhu's 'Sepia Leaves' I picked up this book with the question, "what more could he have to say?" And, yet, I realised there was more. A very powerful book, not meant for the faint-hearted. Left me quite numb in many ways, thankful for my own life with all its short-comings, and awed by the man who could tell the story. If you haven't read Sepia Leaves yet, then pick that up as well

A great read!
Roll of Honour is a book which leaves you deeply affected. Yet, the story is told with refreshing honesty and in a matter-of-fact way, without attempting to bring to the surface the strong emotions that the story invariably stirs in the reader, avoiding the the overwhelming nostalgia and melancholy that one tends to easily associate with writers of serious Indian fiction. The past and present merge seamlessly into a fantastic narrative that is a delight to read.

A must read for all :)
Few have the ability to explore the dark side of life and things in a very honest way. The book is extremely well written and it will remain with the reader for a long long time. The author leads the way in dealing with profoundness with simplicity and relative ease. Beautifully paced too!

An unmatched insight into 80s Punjab
Roll of Honour is a long missed account of the Punjab of the 80s. A land of turmoil, conspiracy, divided loyalties is excellently portrayed through the eyes of a teenager who is coming to grips with his own tragedies and contradictions. A Perfect 5!
Amandeep has perfectly brought out life, ideas, ideals and conflicts in the aftermath of the anti-Sikh riots of 1984. This is life as fiction but no less real. Recommended read for anyone willing to understand minds in threatened states.

A powerful read
Amandeep Sandhu's second book, roll of Honour is a solid read taking you back to 1984, the violence of the carnage agaist Sikhs in India, as seen by a teen age boy studying in a military school in Jassabad, Punjab. There are many layers to this story and the author leaves the reader to make his/her interpretations, which is what all fine work of art and literature must do.
