Karanja or Kanji or Pongamia is an average sized tree. This tree expands perfectly in areas having excellent daylight. It even has the potential to expand itself in the sun protected areas as well. The place having rainfall of 500-2500 cm together with a temperature range of 10-40 degree Celsius is suitable for growing Pongamia trees. It can relieve worm infestation and aids quick wound healing. The leaves of Karanja can relieve inflammation, diarrhea and constipation. The fruits of Karanja is used to treat diabetes. The fruits are also used to treat psoriasis and skin infections Millettia pinnata is a species of tree in the pea family, Fabaceae, native in tropical and temperate Asia including parts of Indian subcontinent, China, Japan, Malaysia, Australia and Pacific islands. It is often known by the synonym Pongamia pinnata as it was moved to the genus Millettia only recently.[when?] Common names include Indian beech and Pongam oiltree.
