Col A Ponnuchamy was commissioned in the Corps of EME on 2 Feb 1964. After his Degree Engg, he has done several courses like WCC, OAE, OALE and Micro Processor Course at IIT Kanpur. He started his career with 1111 Tpt Copy Wksp and during his service he held various important command and staff appointments such as MCO of a Base Wksp, OIC P&R in an Armd Div, Maint Engineer in MAG No 3, Asst Director in DGQA, Asst Director General (Engg Support) in DGAFMS and Commanding Officer of a combined wksp and as Col EME HQ 3 Corps, Just before his retirement on 31 May 94, he held the appointment of Col EME ATNKK & G Area. He has completed 30 years plus in Army. During his service he was known for his dare devilry and met challenges head on, going beyond the call off duty when a task needed to be done for the organisation and did so in every formation and establishment he served.
