Book was launched by Mr. Gopal Hosur, Rtd. IPS at Bengaluru ; Mr. Ramana, National Award Nominee and Scientist at Hyderabad ; Dr. Col. Prakash & Dr. Khan at International Conference of Medical Sciences and Social Sciences, Mysuru and Sri. Somaraju, Prl District and Sessions Judge,Vijayapura.

Set in the backdrop of 1990 Calcutta, She is a story about finding one's own identity in spite of all odds. The story spins around the life of Kusum, a brave heart whose identity is often untitled and blurred; it does not belong anywhere, definitely not under the 'he or 'she bracket, thanks to our social conditioning. Will she be successful in her mission? Find out in She, an utterly absorbing read that derives inspiration from Tagore's "Ekla Cholo Re" song, which urges everyone to move on despite the fear of abandonment from others.

"She is one of the finest book to read" - Sujeeth Kumar, Project Manager, MNC Bengaluru

"A story often untold. Appreciate the team for presenting She in the best possible harmonious way!" - N K Narasimhan, CEO and Co-Founder, Nascor Technologies, Bengaluru

"Don't miss the ending!" - Raghunath Babu Are, Employee at Microsoft, Bengaluru

Mr P V Ramana, National Award Nominee and Scientist says "It is good have sympathy on cows and dogs, but better to have sympathy on our own species first. Mankind has so many sections of people who deserve much more attention and sympathy than what they get now. This novel is an attempt to draw our attention on one such set of people. It is not easy to run a novel with just two characters mainly and still succeed in its aim. The authors have very nicely managed this without loosing the grip on the readers. It is our social responsibility to read such books to know the unknown feelings of our own mankind."

    Nice product

When the author mailed me asking for a review of She. Ekla Cholo Re, that book title fascinated me and I was expecting some huge, voluminous book. But when the package arrived, I was in for a surprise after finding a pint sized book. Though a short read with around 50 pages, this book leaves behind a huge and hard hitting message.
The story is simple and it is about Kusum, the protagonist, whose feminine soul is caged in a man’s body and is in search of solace and acceptance. The author has s...

    A short and sweet read

    Intriguing title, isn’t it?

Let’s find out what exactly the authors got to say about ‘She‘ and also the tagline, ‘Ekla Cholo Re‘.

This is my first novel that I’ve read from these two authors. One of the best things about the novel is that it is very short, approximately 60 pages and a precise one.

The story revolves around a person named Kusum, the protagonist in the story and our ‘She‘ from the title and the tagline, ‘Ekla Cholo Re‘ is inspired by the famous song ‘Ekla Cholo Re‘ by ‘Rabin...

    A Must Read

The Book, “She Ekla Cholo Re” authored by Dr. Shayan Haq and Santhosh Avvannavar is a very short interesting novel that you can read in one go and it will hardly take half an hour to finish it off.
The story spins around the life of Kusum, who does not fits into the conventional male and female bracket. The story is set in the backdrop of Calcutta in 1990. In our society, gender matters a lot and the dominance is more of male owing to patriarchal society and if the person of gender is blurre...

The alone journey towards finding the ownself!!

A short story about the gender issues... I really like the topic on which the book is written and the flow of the story is quite nice and good in a way. The storyline is of 90s time and so, there were more questions a person can get when she or he is in this situation. Author has tried quite good to guve justice to the character call as Kusum!! The flair a character is feeling throughout the story is like a roller coaster ride... the one thing which I didn't feel good is length of the book. I...

    'She' is enlightening and inspiring.

I read the book She: Ekla Cholo Re by Dr. Shayan Haq and Santosh Avvannavar, during my visit to the dentist couple of days ago. I finished reading and writing this review, while I was waiting for my turn. It is a short book that it only took me less than half an hour to finish.

She is the story of a transgender who talks about the problems she faced in her life and how she overcame it to meet her real self.

Tagore’s ‘Ekla Cholo Re’ song urges Kusum to continue despite the fear of abandonmen...

A Special thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of the book

I loved everything in the book and couldn't stop finishing it.
It caught my attention from the very beginning.

Author has made it in such a way that it feels/makes you grown and learn as you read along.
Just thinking, how the author figured out this kind of story ... wham your hit with a new twist.
I can say this as this is not just a normal reading material. This will entirely change the perception of thinking in ...

    The discernment towards gender sympathy

She: Ekla Cholo Re, is a short book on a person who has gone through diverse phases of individuality and survival from time to time being ridiculed and joked of. It talks about the discernment towards gender sympathy. The story is of Kusum and Raj, one being the victim of gender sensitivity and the other being a professor. Both of them meet on a highway and when the conversation ends, it calls to mind a sense of belonging between them with an amazing twist in the story. The story is based in ...

    Best Social Awareness

The story is set in 90's time and the field of story is Calcutta. It's the narrative of a person attempting to discover their personality in a general public that is loaded with obsolete belief systems and an intolerant disdain for anything that goes astray from their meaning of "typical" and 'regular'. Story is quick paced and makes it simple to peruse. I adored the way Tagore's celebrated tune was associated with the story.
This is a propelling anecdote around a shemale, who regardless of ...

    A very inspiring story!

When a baby takes birth, it’s parents are happily asked by the society, is it a boy or a girl? They get one answer of the two and then the baby just fits in the gender role and its stereotyping and is expected to do all what that gender is ‘supposed’ to do all throughout its life. It’s all about a boy or a girl, a man or a woman, a gentleman or a lady. Why are we so dichotomous? Why is everything just black or white? What about someone who falls in neither of these categories that we had made...
