Never Ending Struggle Of Poor Farmers Against Dirty Politics

A very nicely written book, with on ground reality of a long lasting struggle of poor farmers against dirty politics of the country, by Kota Neelima. It takes a heart and brain to write such a book so neatly and exposing reality so bravely. Characterization has been quite strong - be it a positive or a negative character in the book. Kota Neelima, who is currently a Political Editor for The Sunday Guardian, has a crisp and neat style of decrypt unsaid and encrypted silence that exists in the ...

    good book

The promise made by the theme, which led me to pick up Shoes of the Dead, was fulfilled beautifully by the book. The characters of both the politician and the farmer have been created with insight and sympathy. This book must be read, both by people interested in matters of national policy and by those interested in the dynamics of hereditary politics. Only that, the politician, be aware! Finally a book that puts out the nexus in the open

    INDIAN FARMERS IN 21ST CENTURY

A nicely written book, with on ground reality of a long lasting struggle of poor farmers against dirty politics and bureaucracy of our country.

It takes a heart and brain to write such a book so neatly and exposing reality so bravely. Characterization has been quite strong - be it a positive or a negative character in the book.

Overall if we look at Shoes of the Dead, it is undoubtedly established that this sensitive matter existing in the country in reality has been touched so brilliantl...

    A gripping tale of woe

This is my first read on Kota Neelima and it left me completely flabbergasted. As a member of new generation who is acquainted with farming through the plays of Farmville, this is indeed an eye opener. We may not expect nature to be cooperative all the time, what we have here is as risky as climbing Mount Everest. There won't be any unwither options or mystery babies to wait for.
Neelima has succeeded in combining a serious theme with a fast paced narrative style which makes the story more en...

    A gripping tale!

Kota Neelima has captured the farmers plight really well in this book. Add to it the corrupt political scenario and the grey areas of ethics in journalism and you have an absolutely fantastic read!

The story is really well researched and put together. The author has done a fantastic job with that. Even though it is fiction, the book does not have any such incident that may seem too far-fetched. And that itself is quite a feat.

The language is crisp. The characters are very well written an...

    A gripping political thriller

Kota Neelima is a name to reckon with. Anyone who has followed her reportage knows how nuanced she is with her work. Given this fact, a fictionalized version of the events that she has seen and reported about was bound to be gripping. And gripping it was!

Unless and until you have been living under a rock, you must know the awful statistic of farmer suicides in India. Poverty and corruption come together and become quite a gripping knot at the poor farmer's throat out of which he can barely ...

    An unusual genre

This book by Neelima Kota takes the untrodden path in Indian fiction. As the rest of the world remains obsessed with fantasy-fiction, love stories etc., this book tries to deal with the issue of farmer suicides and their struggle. It is a real story in terms of characters and their sense of moralities. So, even though there is a huge line between right and wrong, it starts getting tough to choose sides here.

The author is a well travelled and well- read person and that reflects in her writi...
