Fascinating and Brilliant !!
Even though the book seems outdated compared to the present history, i would say this is a best read to know our base of the universe, world and human evolution from ages to ages.

Great Book
It is a great book if you just want to breeze through history and get an overview of how things happened. Great analysis. Very concise. The chapters are not more than 5 pages.
The only drawback is that it is a book published in the 1920s, so from the period of the late 19th century, there is more analysis than facts and a fair bit of speculation and bias. But upto 1850s it is a great book.

Outdated, but a good sketch.
Wells takes the reader through the whole history of the world, right from the time of the aquatic creatures to the first world war. The second hadn't happened back when this book was written, however Wells has predicted the possibility of a second large scale war even more devastating in consequence in the book.
