Silent House is a story about three sisters who pay a visit to their grandmother. Their one week stay at her seaside home brings them face to face with old memories and people from their past.
Summary of the Book
Faruk, Metin and Nilgun visit their bitter grandmother every summer as a tradition. Faruk seems to be living a very aimless life since she got divorced and is also an alcoholic. Metin feels the need to escape to America and Nilgun is still in her race towards womanhood. During their one-week stay here, the three start to realize and take notice of things they had ignored until now.
About Orhan Pamuk
Orhan Pamuk is a Turkish novelist, screenwriter and academic. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in the year 2006. He has sold over eleven million books and his works have been translated to 60 languages. Some novels authored by him are: The White Castle, The Black Book, The New Life, My Name Is Red, Snow and The Museum of Innocence.
