  • Description

Ashok Banker continues the Ramayana series with the tale of Rama’s sons, the mighty Sons of Sita in this epic retelling of Indian mythology.

    Summary of the Book

Rama has done the unthinkable. He has banished his beloved Sita to the forests, where she lives with the sage Valmiki. Rama pines away for Sita, but he cannot ignore his duties to his people as their king. The years pass and he decides to hold a great yagna to commemorate his victorious reign. The Ashwamedha Yagna is a grand festival, where the organizer releases a mighty horse that runs free. All the land covered by the horse is declared to belong to the organizer, and those who stop the creature will have invited his wrath upon them. As the horse races through the woods of Ayodhya, it encounters two young boys who stop it in its path. They refuse to listen to Rama’s brothers who ask them to release the horse or risk war with Rama himself. However, the boys are obstinate in their stance. The mighty Rama comes to them to wage war, but he is yet to realize that these brave and tenacious boys are none other than his sons, the sons Sita bore him in the forest during her exile. Can Rama recognize his heirs in time to stop the battle or will he destroy his legacy with his own hands?

A -Not-So-Great ending to an otherwise GREAT series

I loved the earlier parts of the Ramayan series by Banker. He Really knows how to describe the things, events, places, characters well in his book.
The Sons of Sita is the story of Luv and Kush and their exploits.
The series was ended in the 'King of Ayodhya' series. But it was followed by 2 more books in the series promising answers to many unanswered questions. The 1st book - the Vengeance of Ravana' lived up to the expectations in creating a great plot but this book failed to lived up to th...

Tacky Add-on to an epic series

Ok so i loved the first 7 books in the series. I was blown away by them and they were an engaging read and they all had a neat flow in sequence with each other.

Bu this book feels like a tacky add on and out of place with the rest of the series. Sure Ashok Banker is a good writer but this book wont lewave you feeling as satisifed as the first 7 books. Get it if you read the first 7 books and wanted one more book. Just dont expect the same level of awesomeness.

Great Book , Epic re-told in Titanic proportions.

This is a Great Book simply because its is the 'Ramayana' re-told.
I believe that no matter who re-writes this Epic it will always be
a great read.I must thank Mr Banker for making these Titans of
Indian writings, these Sacred scriptures available for reading
in English and so well written !!

I still feel his first Books Prince of Ayodhya stands really tall,
tall among-st all these Titans of Books.

A changed Rama we see, that is being separated from Sita.
    A beautiful Book.

Same style of Writing Ending not that Impressive

Liked the other books. Style of writing is the same. The end was not as impressive and did not tickle the imagination. Some contemporary language could have been avoided. Lengthy descriptions of sceneries sometimes going over a page can be a little boring. I still like this author though. Looking forward for reading the Krishna and the Mahabharata series after taking a break.

    Good book.

Good: Writing, Twists and Conspiracy plot.
    Bad: Length
As the logical conclusion of the Ramayana series, this book is a must read.

Not in the same league as earlier books of the series

I agree with the other reviewers - this book was a big let-down from the earlier parts.
There is nothing at the end ... Ram is shown as falling/ failing very soon while the 90% of the book builds up to the supposed climax.

Honestly - if you have purchased every single volume (Like me) and are looking at buying it for completing the collection - DONT! Not worth the time or money.

Banker's Ramayan and Mahabharata series have became Boring

Used to enjoy earlier installments but Too much repeat of similar language has definitely made both this series big Bore now. Looks like they are unnecessarily stretched into 10s of book installments.
