It is based on the guidelines of NEP 2020. It promotes English language skills in a user-friendly manner. The books contain interesting pieces of prose and poetry, as well as plays, to engage the interest of young learners. About the Literature Readers Literature Readers are meant for classes 3-8. The aim of the Literature Readers is to introduce children to the joy of reading through a variety of genres, such as fiction, non-fiction, poetry and biography. Salient features of the Literature Readers are: User- friendly layout and vibrant illustrations. Carefully selected stories, poems and plays, from across the world, graded according to the understanding level of the child. Comic-strip stories in Books 3, 4 and 5. Difficult words have been highlighted and their meanings given. Exercises have been divided into the following sections in Books 3, 4 and 5: Understanding the Story Language Skills Writing Skills Understanding the Story: In this section, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Questions and Answers, Fill in the blanks, etc., are given. They help in thorough understanding of the lesson. Language Skills: In this section, grammar and vocabulary have been covered through a variety of questions. A special focus has been laid on vocabulary building. Writhing Skills: In this section, a variety of questions hone the writing skill of children and help them to express their individual ideas and feelings. An Activity with every poem encourages the child to extend her/his understanding of concepts beyond the classroom. In Books 6, 7 and 8, one more section, ‘Discuss’ has been added which provides opportunity for self-expression.
