A Storm of Swords: Part 2 Blood and Gold (English, Paperback, Martin George R.R.)
A Storm Of Swords 2: Blood And Gold is the second part of the third novel in George R. R. Martin’s epic fantasy series, A Song of Ice And Fire. It picks up the threads of the plot from its predecessor and continues to focus on the gripping War of the Five Kings, which is being fought against the backdrop of the seven kingdoms of Westeros and the harshness of the winter. It highlights the problems of the ordinary man in the face of the civil war.
In this book, the villagers embark on a journey to Frostfangs to gather ice and stone. Going by their careful planning, they will be led South by Brother Mance Rayder, a rebel.
In the Kingdom of the North, Robb Stark assumes the mantle of the new king. Meanwhile, his sisters are being held captive in the land of the Lannisters, Stark’s enemies. They are at the mercy of Joffrey the young king, and his mother Cersei.
Elsewhere, Daenerys Stormborn prepares to return to her homeland and avenge the death of her father, who happened to be the last Dragon King ruling the Iron Throne.
A Storm Of Swords 2: Blood And Gold was first published in the year 2000. The UK, Israeli, Polish, and Australian editions split the novel into two parts. However, the US edition, also published in the same year, presented both parts of the third novel in a single volume. The book won a Locus Poll Award for Best Fantasy Novel (2003), and a Premio Ignotus for Best Foreign Novel (2006).
