The Main feature of this book is that it covers the entire matter that is required up to the degree standard in the subject Strength of Materials.
The only prior knowledge required to study this book is Elementary Engineering Mechanics and calculus.
Basically, I started writing this book on subject Strength of Materials as per revised syllabus of Mumbai University, Mechanical, Civil, Automobile,
production, construction engineering branches. But Strength of materials is the core subject for all these engineering fields, and therefore, no wonder this book is equally useful for students at any other university studying in these engineering fields.
The book will also prove to be of great value for all those students preparing for competitive examinations for higher studies in Engineering and technology.
The primary aim of the book is to give clear understanding of the principles behind mechanical and structural design. In each chapter, to explain certain concepts first few problems are solved with extensive explanation and great clarity so that students can figure out the shortest possible way to analyse a problem.
Each chapter starts with theory, and assumptions made behind the theory. Each chapter covers all aspects of the theory with well explained solved examples, so that, the students should understand areas of application of the theory, and at the same time, limitations of the theory.
