  • Description

Supply Chain Management 4th Edition is a brilliant guide to the key drivers of supply chain management and gives good insights to students regarding what gives rise to a high competitive advantage.

    Summary Of The Book

Targeted towards an academic as well as a practitioner audience, Supply Chain Management 4th Edition is appropriate for MBA students, engineering master’s students, and senior undergraduate students interested in supply chain management and logistics, and it can serve as a suitable reference for concepts and methodology for practitioners in the consulting industry.

The main objective of the book includes developing an understanding of the key areas and their interrelationships such as the strategic role of a supply chain, the key strategic drivers of supply chain performance, and analytical methodologies for supply chain analysis.

Organised into six parts, the text includes case studies and global examples for each part. The first part deals with Building a Strategic Framework to Analyze Supply Chains, the second part is Designing the Supply Chain Network, the third part discusses Planning Demand and Supply in a Supply Chain and so on.

Changes that were incorporated in the third edition have been built on in this fourth edition, which include an entire chapter, i.e chapter 6, devoted to the design of global supply chain networks. The discussion of globalisation has also been enhanced in chapter 14 on sourcing. In chapter 17, the presentation has been altered to broaden the focus from the bullwhip effect to lack of coordination.

Appendices have been provided to help students comprehend supply chain concepts. A lot of Indian examples like Jaipur Rugs, Simbhaoli Sugar, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories have been used. Supply Chain Management 4th Edition was awarded the best book of the year for 2002 by the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE).
