  • Description
Richard P. Feynman, winner of the Nobel Prize in physics, thrived on outrageous adventures. In this lively work that "can shatter the stereotype of the stuffy scientist" (Detroit Free Press), Feynman recounts his experiences trading ideas on atomic physics with Einstein and cracking the uncrackable safes guarding the most deeply held nuclear secrets-and much more of an eyebrow-raising nature. In his stories, Feynman's life shines through in all its eccentric glory-a combustible mixture of high intelligence, unlimited curiosity, and raging chutzpah. Included for this edition is a new introduction by Bill Gates.

surely you' re joking mr feynman

mr abhi you should know most discoveries in science have been due to intuition.Even in mathematics there were greats like fermat who when wrote the last theorum said he didnt have enough space to write the proof and it took many centuries for the proof to emerge and now we know how difficult it was. feynman was a classic teacher and just because he wants you to think and not deduce you criticise him. i wish you read him with an unbiased mind.

    Abhi's comments

I read Abhi's comments. Sadly his comments are less about the book and more his personal animosity towards Feynmann. These comments would have been appropriate from a peer, contemporary or student of Feynmann. I am not sure if Mr. Abhi is any of those. Nowhere does the book pretend to portray Fenmann as some kind of God. To believe that Mohandas Gandhi was a saint would be foolish. So a maverick teacher like Feynmann can never be that God that Abhi wants to see in biographical portrayal of on...

    To Mr. Abhi

Well Mr. Abhi, first of all you need to know that this book is not supposed be a popular science book. It is simply the stories of Feynman's life. And second of all, from your writing it is quite clear that you don't know or haven't read anything else about Feynman (if you have then its even worse). So keep those dumb opinions to yourself.

Surely Overrated and Pretentious ...Just like Feynman

Ok, yes, we all know that Feynman was an excellent teacher and he did contribute some important concepts to modern physics; the 'Feynman Diagrams' being one of the more important ones. There is no denying that he was a well-known physicist of modern times, but the story doesn't end there. If it did, perhaps more intellectuals would respect him.

I'm very familiar with his works; the 'problem' is that I'm also familiar with works of other phycists and the true greats of science. As good a teac...
