About Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda

Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda was an Indian yogi and spiritual guru whose teachings were based on the science of Kriya Yoga.

Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda was born as Mukunda Lal Ghosh on January 5, 1893, in Gorakhpur, India. He graduated from Serampore College, University of Calcutta. By then, he was already a disciple of Swami Yukteswar Giri. He went on to establish a school for boys, which has now turned into the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India. Yogananda moved to the United States in 1920 and lived there for more than three decades before moving back to India. He was then given the title of Paramahansa (indicating the highest spiritual attainment) by his guru. Yogananda passed away on March 7, 1952, in California, United States.
