  • Description

According to the author, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, The Autumn of the Patriarch is a “poem on the solitude of power”. The book is about the life of an eternal dictator. It is divided into six sections and discusses the limitless power of the Caribbean tormenter. The story is ultimately about the disaster that strikes when boundless power is given to a single man.

    Summary of the Book

The story is written in long paragraphs that contain extended sentences. It is about a dictator, a ruthless and cruel man, who lives a life of loneliness, but is consumed by his power with complete disregard for the damage that it has caused. The protagonist holds a God-like status in the book that is similar to the kind of respect that the dictators the real world has seen. The respect and regard that he gets from his people will leave us in awe. In this book, Gabriel Garcia Marquez has successfully managed to base his fictional characters on some real-life autocrats.
