  • Description

The Bhagavad Gita contains the words of Sri Krishna as he explains to Arjuna that not fulfilling one's Dharma is the greatest sin. For eighteen days the Pandavas and Kauravas clashed in battle at the Kurukshetra. However, before the battle, Arjuna finds himself crippled with fear and doubt, questioning his own values. This is a translation of the holy book by Mahatma Gandhi.

    Summary of the Book

The Bhagavad Gita is considered to be one of the foremost treatises on philosophy and the concept of Dharma. In its 700 verses, one can find the answer to life, the universe and the explanation of why human beings are repeatedly put through birth and death cycles. Lord Krishna explains that liberation comes to those who uphold Dharma. Arjuna's Dharma was to kill and reinstate his family as the rightful rulers of Hastinapura. Krishna explains that man's repeated failure to uphold his Dharma is why he manifests himself, time and again, to set right the path that humanity strays onto. An examination of the ethical and moral struggles of man, the Bhagavad Gita is the sum total of man's greatest duties, and his worst fallacies. These words of Krishna before the Kurukshetra war have guided Hindus throughout ages.
