Sherlock Homes Re-born !!!
Before I start to write anything, I must say that Anthony Horowitz has done commendable efforts in reviving the Victorian Era by close mimicking the original environment, language, portrait etc.
At the beginning, the story seems to be going in same direction as "The Valley of Fear", i.e. the underworld mafia gang, but the story keeps on taking different turns after every 20-30 pages. And a the end, the loose threads are joined in such a fine way, which leaves reader mesmerized.

Good collection for Sherlockian fans & followers
The book though, ends in a note which is strictly not for adolescents and school going children, and the author finishes it up with a tad of adultery, which, might be, Conan Doyle wouldn't have thought of or approved. All said and done the book is a page turner and captures Sherlockian London well.

A good reading, but not elementary.....
The story is gripping and the narration is as close as it can get to the vintage stuff. Had it been any other work of fiction, i would have considered a 4.5/5; but for a holmes and watson, i definitely wont. I am giving it a 3.5/5(4 in the rating as it doesnt have 3.5) and after growing up on all the adventures by Sir Doyle, i believe this to be appropiate rating for the novel. A great read
I absolutely loved this book. As a Sherlock Holmes fan since my early teens, I have read all his adventures. And I must say that while reading this book I never felt for one moment that its author has changed. Fans of Sherlock Holmes will love this. Its a treat to have new novel on the great detective and its a job well done.

nice read
if you like sherlok holmes and suspense stories... definitely go for it... Anthny Horowitz is very much effective in engrossing the readers with page by page suspense and an ultimate unexpected ending.... quite a nice experience..

Gets interesting with every page
This never felt like I was not reading an original Sherlock novel. The writing style is just like original and the characters are just as good. The story is little slow paced but the book gets interesting with every chapter. We never realize when one story mixes with the other and both becomes inseparable.
Moreover the print quality is really good and so is the font. A nice book for all Sherlock Holmes fans.

Excellent plot, but the brilliance of Holmes missing
The House of Silk succeeds in recreating the 1890s Victorian era similar to what we have been used to with Conan Doyle's description. The plot has been crafted brilliantly with two different story lines crossing their path with a well hidden twist at the end. There are also traces of empathetic reflections upon the society which are new in a Holmes novel. It is an awesome sherlock homles novel.The thrill and suspence which you experience is great...each holmes fan must read it..even if you are not one you'll become one...the story is simply mindblowing..i really enjoyed reading it and i am sure others will to...the way holmes solves the mysteries is very impressive..i think its the one of the finest sherlok holmes novel...must read
