The McKinsey Way (English, Paperback, Rasiel Ethan M.)
The McKinsey Way, by Ethan M. Rasiel, discusses how to use the techniques of the world’s top strategic consultants to help you and your business. It also explains the strategies used by the business consultancy firm, McKinsey & Company.
Summary of the Book
The author, a former consultant with the McKinsey & Company, explains the principles and strategies that have made McKinsey a giant in the field of business management consultancy in the world today. It gives a framework that helps in dealing with different facets of problems and prioritizing them. It explains the process of gathering all the essential information and resources related to the problem or requirement. Coming up with definite solutions and selling the solution to the client, coping with life at the company and life after coming out of an esteemed company, are the other areas of focus of this book. The McKinsey style is based on the strong belief that all solutions should be driven by diverse theories, based on facts, and well-structured. Every business document has to conform to the mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive (MECE) framework. The consultants aim to arrive as close to an ideal solution to the problem at the initial stage itself. This is termed as the Initial Hypothesis. The book explains several such strategies at each stage of arriving at the solution – sell the idea to the client and help them implement the solutions.
