The classic work of Carl Jung, this book discusses how the future depends wholly on mankind's ability to resist mass movements propagated throughout society. Mankind needs to tap into the unconscious mind, and understand that ideological fanaticism is only destroying our civilization. This can be done by improving our self-knowledge. However, the obstacles to this include many things, including the problem of facing duality in the human psyche. Drawing on his theories of 16 personality types, Jung showcases that it is mankind's only hope to be able to resist this outcome which is largely influenced by the people who hold the power in society.

Carl Gustav Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist who is best remembered for founding analytical psychology.

Jung developed the theories of extraversion and introversion; archetypes, and the collective unconscious. His work has influenced many fields, and his theories have been principal in the institution of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a popular psychometric instrument which classifies all human beings into 16 groups.
