Transforming Our Cities (English, Hardcover, Ahluwalia Isher Judge)
Isher Judge Ahluwalia’s Transforming Our Cities: Postcards of Change is a book which addresses the issues that Indian cities are facing, and attempts to come up with possible solutions.
Summary of the Book
As India progresses exponentially on a daily basis in many walks of life, the urban areas continue to face problems that persist and grow. While rural India has its own plight to deal with, cities have their own deficiencies nonetheless. Most people who live in the cities still struggle with the basic necessities of life like water, shelter, food, and health and sanitation facilities among many other problems. Along with this, the cities are still troubled with infrastructure disorders. No playgrounds for growing children, lack of efficient public transport system, bad traffic, and hopeless roads leading to accidents, overcrowded houses and badly maintained footpaths, public parks are just some of the many issues. The book explains how things have gone worse over the years and on the other hand, also details on how the concerns could be reduced. The transformation needs an improvement in standard of living for all citizens in the Indian cities.
