Famous poet Momin Khan ‘Momin’ was a poet of the late Mughal period. Apart from this, ‘Momin’ was also a contemporary of Mirza Ghalib and Jauq. In those days Momin used to go to the Red Fort to join Bahadur Shah Zafar’s mushairas. Even today, Momin’s name is taken among the most emotional and sensitive poets. His love interest was reflected in his poetry as well. Usually his entire poetry is filled with ‘Shringar rasa’. This is the reason that while writing the compositions of Ishq Mohabbat, such pearls of similes and ornaments were used that the compositions directly touched the heart. The poetry of ‘Momin’ is of very high standard. There are some such qualities in his language, which ae visible in each of his characters. Even today many of his ‘shers’ are used as idioms. Momin was a great poet of Shringar Rasa. In this matter even in today’s era, no one is his equal. “Mujhe jannat me vo sanam na mila Harsh aur ek bar hona tha.”
