Shakeel Badayuni was born on August 20, 1916 in the house of Maulvi Jameel Ahmed Sahab Qadri in Badaun. His father was also a poet and used to say ‘Sokhta’ in those days. Shakeel Sahib received his initial training which ncludes Urdu, Persian, Arabic and English language from Maulvi Abdul Ghaffar, Maulvi Abdul Rehman and Babu Ramchandra ji. After this Shakeel took admission in Aligarh Muslim University in 1937 AD and from there in 1942 AD, B.A. passed the exam and started as employee in Delhi. In Mushairas, Shakeel’s name was taken on the lines of celebrities. He used to garner a lot of praise by making the listeners stunned with the scintillating kalam and magic of his voice. As a lyricist in the film world, he was one of the most amazing personalities. The star of his fame shone when the clouds of decline were hovering over Urdu language and poetry. In such a critical time, Shakeel started ruling the hearts of the people of every class by awakening the magic of his best poetry, sons that go deep into the depths of the heart.
