Dr. Capt. N.Seshadrinathan was born in Kanyakumari District , Tamil Nadu on 25th July, 1891. His parents were Sri. Neelakantan and Smt. Sankari Ammal. In 1914, when the world war broke out, Dr. Seshadrinathan joined army and went to Egypt to serve British army. He was given Captain title by the British. He served the economically poor by working in Govt hospitals, Ramakrishna Math and also by having a free dispensary of his own. He followed Gandiian principles and made everyone at home spin thread. He also wore khadi dress only. Apart from this book Uyir malai, he has written Namadu Udal, Unavum Suka Vaazhvum, Veettu Vaidyam, Suha Prasavam, Irai Eeram Ee etc. he answered medicine related questions in the magazine “manjari.” He passed away on 30th Oct 1969 at the age of 78 after accomplishing yeomen service to the downtrodden.
