  • Description
Shiso does well fertile well-draining soils. Sow red shiso seeds at a depth of ¼ inches either indoor or outdoor. Seeds will start germinating in 3 to 5 weeks in ideal growing conditions. Thin seedlings to a distance of 18 to 22 inches once established. GROWING REQUIREMENTS PESTS Red shiso is relatively free of most pests except for some aphids, moth larvae or bacterial wilt may cause some problems during growth. Regular plant check-up is recommended to keep this in check. SOIL Red shiso will do well on average to fertile soil that drains the water well. The ideal soil pH should range between 5.5 and 6.5. SPOT Pick a spot that receives direct sunlight for 4-5 hours every day to grow red shiso in your gardens. TEMPERATURE The ideal soil temperature for germination should be between 15 to 21℃ for red shiso seeds. Shiso is a warm-weather tender herb that will not grow well in cold temperatures. WATERING Keep the planting bed evenly moist for growing red shiso well.
