    Description

Acclaimed as one of the major achievements in the fantasy mystery genre, Game Of Thrones: A Song Of Ice And Fire (Book- 1) TV Tie-in Edition is the first book of George R. R. Martin’s immensely popular series, A Song of Ice and Fire.

    Summary Of The Book

Full of adventure, mystery, intrigue, and romance, Game Of Thrones: A Song Of Ice And Fire (Book- 1) TV Tie-in Edition is a fitting opening to one of the most popular fantasy fiction series. The book contains supernatural elements which revolve around the seasons which last decades. The summer is ending and winter is fast approaching. As the cold is on its way back, it is bringing along with it deadly forces. Beyond the protective walls of the kingdom, in the frozen wastes, supernatural forces are making their way to the world of men.

In this battle for the throne, replete with death, plunder, tragedy, betrayal, terror, and treachery, two families take centre stage, the Starks and the Lannisters. Lord Eddard Stark, the newly appointed ‘Hand’ of King Robert, has to defend the Iron throne. What happens to King Robert? What does Ned Stark discover that makes him the enemy of the Queen? Will Sansa Stark marry Joffrey? Who is Daenerys Targaryen and how will her actions affect Westeros? This fantasy adventure tale, which takes place in a land of magic, dragons, and supernatural creatures, keeps readers spellbound till the very end.

Published in 1996, Game Of Thrones: A Song Of Ice And Fire (Book- 1) TV Tie-in Edition became a New York Times bestseller. The novel received the Locus Award, the Hugo Award, and the Ignotus Award. It was also nominated for the World Fantasy Award and the Nebula Award. The series was adapted into an HBO television series, which premiered in 2011.

Martin did his BS and then his MS in journalism from Northwestern University, Illinois. After the failure of his novel, The Armageddon Rag, Martin embarked on a television career. ~The Best Book for Fantasy Fiction Fans~

The best book in the fantasy fiction genre.

I found it really simple to read not as tough as LOTR ...or The Wheel of Time! The plot, the theme or call it the storyline ~> you will be surprised. A definite page turner with lots of twists and turns ... I'm so happy to read it first and then watched the HBO 10 episodes on this one later :) :) :)

Highly recommended to all fantasy fiction fans. I heard the series won couple of awards too...

Now looking forward to read the second part ...

Thats the way to bind 1000 characters :) :)

The most awsme part of the book is that it binds all the three mainline stories so closely and in such a manner that you will never feel beating around the bush... there are so many characters in the story yet you find yourself to remember each and everyone, all the time. I am so impressed by the story and especially the way its written by Martin that I ordered all the rest of the books form this series, at once and waiting for BOOK 6 and 7 to be completed and published.

    A Game of Awesomeness

Upfront, I must tell you guys that I’m not much of a reader. I only read in my spare time, which mostly includes fiction like sci-fi, fantasy. Although, after reading the book first of the fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, I think I’m becoming one quickly. This book is THAT good! It brings out the bibliophile inside. And now I’m a big fan of the franchise, having watched the inspired HBO TV series.

The plot involves three main story-lines which are interconnected to each other. Martin i...

I watched the HBO tv series first, but was dying to read the Book. So I finally managed to grab it off flipkart. I actually wanted to buy the other cover but was dying to read so settled for this one.

This book is not a part of the box set given by Harper Voyager and is a taller version..

    It is a 2011 edition....

Delivery was a bit late. It was delayed by 4 days from the given delivery date.

    The Modern Genius

Being a Lord of the Rings fan I was very excited about reading the Game of Thrones- given, that maps in books had always been a keen aspect that I looked forward to. The words in this book were so beautiful that one could be as creative as a rock and yet be able to imagine what George Martin wants you to see.
However, I realised that unlike the great Tolkien and his intricate descriptions, George Martin had brought reality into fiction. It was no longer all good against all bad. As you go ...
