Equipped with an efficient 20.2 megapixel 22.4 x 15 mm CMOS sensor, the 7D can capture images of incredible quality ensuring that every picture has accurate exposure and colour information. The device can record movies in Full HD with a resolution of 1920 x 1080.
Developed with 65 all cross-type autofocus system and AI Servo AF, the 7D offers excellent flexibility while focusing. It features dual DIGIC 6 image processor and in-camera RAW image processing that processes images efficiently. The camera can capture up to 10 shots per second on the continuous shooting mode.
Featuring a 7.62cm (3 inches) TFT LCD with 1,040,000 dots, the display lets you view preview scenes, live view during video recording and also lets you view the videos and images captured. The eye-level pentaprism makes the viewfinder more efficient. The 7D also has a depth-of-field preview button that helps shooting images.
The Mark II has an electronically-controlled focal-plane shutter which provides shutter speed of 1/8000 to 30 sec. The Bulb mode allows you to control the shutter release even further.
The ISO range of the camera is ISO 100-6400. It can further be expanded to H1, which is equivalent to ISO 25600, and H2 equivalent to ISO 51200.
With a 252-zone TTL metering, the camera offers Evaluative Metering, Partial Metering, Spot and Center-weighed Average Metering.
The 7D comes with +/- 5 stops of exposure compensation on manual mode and has a flash exposure of up to +/- 3 stops.
The device is compatible with lenses that have a Canon EF mount, so you can experiment with a wide range of lenses available. A favourite among most EOS users, the 18 - 135 mm lens is a great complement for this camera. The lens features a 67 mm filter size and 1.15 ft. minimum focus distance.
The 7D is built with a powerful retractable auto pop-up E-TTL II flash with a recycle time of approximately 3 seconds.
Pictures can be stored in both JPEG as well as RAW image file formats of varying sizes to retain the quality, while movies can be captured in MOV, MPEG and AVC formats. The 7D supports CF card type I, SD/SDHC/SDXC and also UHS-I cards.
The Canon 7D can be connected to other supported devices using Hi-speed USB 3.0 as well as mini HDMI to transfer images and videos. The camera comes with a Wireless File Transmitter (WFT-E5) interface as well.
The camera is powered by a 1865 mAh lithium-ion battery that can be recharged when drained out.
