    About the Book

Eleven Minutes chronicles the story of a young Brazilian woman named Maria. She moves out of her small village to Geneva, Switzerland where she hopes to start her life over. A chance encounter with an Arab man one night earns her thousands of francs. Lured by the prospect of easy money, she takes up prostitution as a profession. Her feelings about ‘true love’ are put to test when she meets Ralf, a man she eventually falls in love with. In her journey of self-discovery, she is forced to choose between continuing with her profession or rising to the occasion and risking everything for the possibility of discovering what love actually means.

    About the Author

Born on 24 August 1947, Brazilian lyricist and novelist Paulo Coelho is best known for his novel The Alchemist. Even at a young age, Paulo always knew that he was meant to become a writer. In fact, when a young Paulo told his mother about his wish to become a writer and expressed his unwillingness to follow a traditional path, his parents committed him to a mental institution. But, that didn’t stop Paulo Coelho, and he went on to write best-selling novels, such as The Winner Stands Alone, The Devil and Miss Prym and The Witch of Portobello, among others.

    Gripping, daring and brilliant!

This was one of the first few of my reads of Paulo Coelho, and i was quite impressed!
The Alchemist was the only Paulo Coelho creation i had read before this one.
As the description suggests, it is a daring novel. Once or twice i found myself in a dilemma whether to continue reading or not, but i did, and seriously no regrets! One thing I learnt for sure, however offensive the subject seems, its always the style of writing and the ability to keep the reader glued to the book, that really deci...

    Fab Work by Paulo Coelho

Eleven Minutes is the most contentious work by the Brazilian author Paulo Coelho. The story Circumnavigates around juvenile Brazilian girl, Maria who dwells with her parents in a remote hamlet. After a calamitous poignant episode in her life, she focuses her mind that she'll never find a true mate in her life. Later in her life, she decides to explore the world and thus sojourn life in Switzerland. As a nightclub dancer she starts making earning money but ironically she starts running out of ...

dream of a girl about relationship......

journey towards what she dreamt of.. what she expected all through her childhood days and nights. she, MARIA, tries her best to fight all odds.... and somewhere perhaps compromised to some extent. but is there any way in life without a bit damn compromisation? a book or movie always ends with those words...`and they are living happily ever after .....`! but why they dont starts from the `after`? coelho rises the questions in this book.. and tried to search the probable answers.....

    Excellent

I am 24 year old.. and i an not matured as Maria even though Maria is only 23 at the end of the book.. but to be frank I may relate it with my experiences as time passes on.. because I don't have such vast kind of life moments as hers.. but this one definitely changed my perception about women...I will read it again and again and again as life passes on.. am sure it will reveal something new every time.. Thanks to every women..I will try to be nice with you people as much as I possible.

    Good , nice to read

Interesting life story of Maria. Almost all religions have taught that sex is sin and talked negatively about it. It is neither good nor bad. It is very integral part of our life. Everybody born out of it. It has to be sacred, spiritual. We should accept it wholeheartedly, that is the only way to go beyond it, trascend it.

    Fabulous!

This book is really good. Story is beautifully written by Paulo. Its an easy read. Only problem i found is, sometime storyline is repetetive or slow hence it does get bore in some point of time but than if you read it patiently than this book has so much to surprise you. Overall its a great book and i recommend to every reader and non reader also.
