Probably the best book in the market to go for if you are trying to crack GATE/ESE. I found it pretty useful.
Let me just point out pros nd cons.

1. Pretty systematic.
2. Easy to understand language and notations.
3. Almost everything in the mechanical syllabus is covered in this book. And you will not be needing any other book for your competitive exam preparation.
4. This book focuses on quick learning and is pretty useful when you need to revise everything in 3-4 days.
