Devdutt Pattanaik introduces the story of Hanuman, the much-loved Hindu deity, to a new generation of readers. Hanuman, Anjani's Mighty Son is perfect as a read-aloud to acquaint young readers with the qualities of valour, selflessness, loyalty and humility that Hanuman embodied.
Having read this book, one feels that this book is more of a children's book, with its glossy pages and abundant(often needless) illustrations. Rather than an introduction of Hanuman's life, one is retold anecdotes from a very incomplete and hasty version of the Ramayana and Hindu mythology in general, giving it a very confused mien. A narrative rather than an incoherent mixture of beliefs, one feels, would have been more enjoyable. The book fell well short of any expectations one might have ...
A very thorough research work have been done for writing this book. Nice one, must read. But if you are least interested in mythology, this book is not for you. Also adding to it, the book is same as the Ramayana but with a detailed story.
