  • Description
IIT 101: What and Where to Study Engineering is a psychology-based guide that helps students and parents make wise, reflective decisions about choosing the right engineering branch and institute. Blending personal stories with research in Transactional Analysis, Ikigai, motivation theory, and personality science, the book explains how choices are often shaped by imitation, parental pressure, fear, and social expectations—and how to replace these with clarity and calm reasoning. Across six parts, the book teaches readers to understand their inner decision-making voices (Parent, Adult, Child), identify their interests and aptitudes, connect their strengths to India’s and the world’s needs, and balance passion with financial stability. It introduces the Ikigai framework to decide what to study and the CIPP model to evaluate where to study, helping students assess institutes beyond rankings. The book also highlights essential skills—communication, leadership, ethics, mental health, internships, and mentorship—and offers real case studies of IIT graduates who pursued diverse paths. Summary tables and diagnostic tools help readers prepare a thoughtful, personalized preference list. Ultimately, IIT 101 transforms engineering admissions from a stressful race into a journey of self-discovery, purpose, and informed choice.
