Author shows the external or social life of his characters in his writing (particularly short stories) who often want to reach a destination but because of strong power of destiny there often remains a gap between desire and destination. His stories weave together a balanced view of nature and man living side by side. His stories are capable of evoking compassion and sensitivity, the twin characters of any good piece of literature. His stories have definite plots, a strong content along with tremendous flow of language. His stories seems to be rooted in Assamese culture and milieu but in some of his stories we find the characters drifting apart from their indigenous cultural background. His stories are reader friendly and characterized by a philosophical probing of life. His previous collections of short stories have been well-accepted by readers and I am sure that the present collection will also touch the deep chords of heart of readers.

Akash Dipta Thakur’s stories are important in the context of contemporary Assamese literature, particularly in the domain of short story. In Assamese literature the tradition of short story writing is very strong as it has witnessed writers like Mahim Bora, Sourav Kumar chaliha, Homen Borgohain, Bhabendranath saikia , Purabi Bormudai, Mamoni Roison Goswami, Syed Abdul Malik, to name only a few. And it is precisely in this context that Akash Dipta Thakur’s presence in the realm of Assamese short story is welcoming and a matter of assurance. Thakur does not experiment with either form or content, nor does he show any whimsical technical dexterity. His stories are simple, unpretentious and without any showmanship. His language is easy to understand because it is lucid and urbane. Most of his stories stem from his position as a writer of rural life, but it does not mean that he has never written about urban context.
