shakuhachi, a Japanese end-blown bamboo flute.
The non-root shakuhachi is a good and reasonably priced choice!
This is the jiari flute with a bore turned into a perfect cone, that’s why its voice is clean and bright. Made of thick-walled bamboo it sounds pretty similar to root-flutes. It’s well-tuned in two octaves and it’s suitable for improvisation as well as for playing honkyoku and western music.
The 1.8 shakuhachi is the most common key. It’s a good flute for beginners, because all of the training materials use it as an example.
