This book is designed as a textbook for the first course in software engineering for undergraduate and postgraduate students. This may also help the software professionals to implement software engineering concepts and practices. About the Author
Prof. K.K. Aggarwal, obtained his Engineering Degree from Punjab University and Masters degree from Kurukshetra University securing First position in both. Later, he did his Ph.D. in Reliability Evaluation and Optimization also from Kurukshetra University. He has been the Chairman of the Department of Electronics, Communications and Computer Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra for a long time. He was also Director, "Center for Excellence for Manpower Development" established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development at that Institution. Prof. Aggarwal was Pro Vice-chancellor, Guru Jambheshwar University (Technical University of Haryana), Hissar for a period of three years. Since 1998, he served as Vice-chancellor of GGSIU, Delhi till recently.

Prof. Aggarwal has extensively worked in various fields of Electronics and Computer Engineering. He has published about 300 papers in the reputed journals.

Besides, contribution to the academic field, Prof. Aggarwal has been associated with several industrial houses such as Tata Consultancy Services, BHEL, TVS Electronics, DCM Data Systems, Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Electronics Corporation of India, BEL, ISRO, Defence Research Labs., etc. He has the unique distinction for being recipient of various National and International awards.

Prof. Yogesh Singh is a Professor in the University School of Information Technology, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi and also Controller of Examinations and Director, Student`s Welfare of the University. He was founder Head (1999-2001) and Dean (2001-2006) of University School of Information Technology, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. He has also served as Dean (2001-06), University School of Engineering and Technology of the University. Prior to this, he was Founder Chairman (1996-1999), Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Guru Jambheshwar University, Hissar, Haryana.

Prof. Singh received his M. Tech. and Ph.D. (Computer Engineering) degrees from National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (previously known as Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra). His area of research is Software Engineering focusing on Planning, Testing Metrics and Neural Networks. He has more than 165 publications in International/National Journals and Conferences. He has supervised eight Ph.D.`s and ten students are working under his supervision.
