The work is a sharp criticism of the caste system, and places it arguments and observations in a logical and neutral manner. Starting with the origins of the caste system, it traces its progress through the ages; there are mentions of the Mahabharata and the Ramayan, Buddhism, Hinduism under Muslim rule, Mughal persecution, etc. This small book is a reprint of the 1922 edition
